Ok, now we're cookin' with gas. Here's what 'ya got to work with...
Bob, I've taken the information that you found on the web about several (commercial?) meteor-scatter stations that seem to operate successfully and re-presented the data in chart format for easier comparison.
Freq Pwr Antenna Data Msg. RX DX to Success Rate
Gain Rate Size Stns RX stn Min/hr Max/hr
(MHz) (W) (dBd) (kbd) (b) (#) (mi) (full deliveries)
----- ---- ----- ---- ---- --- ----- ---- ----
38 200 10+10 2 150 1 600 18 46
38 400 10+10 2 50 1 500 15 60
38 400 10+10 50 1 1000 8 30
38 600 2+10 2 130 4 600 360 1200
38 2000 6+12 130 4-900 75 240
46 750 0+11 2 12 30 (June)
The questions are many, but this can serve as a first step to know what has been successful in the past so as to know what to engineer for future duplication in the Amateur service.
I have what I hope to be constructive input...but will share a bit later in the day.
Kind regards,
Ev, W2EV
