[aprssig] D700 storage type for settings?

Does anyone know what type of memory is used for the D700 settings (e.g.
EEPROM, battery backed RAM), and how many write cycles it's rated for?  I'm
thinking battery backed RAM, for some reason, but I don't trust my memory.
Just contemplating a little microcontroller project to put the frequency in
the status text, but I sure wouldn't want to fry an EEPROM with excessive
writes.
