Certainly there is no need, but does no one do it at all?  Would it 
really annoy users so much to have it behave like a regular repeater in 
that respect?  I think there's value in having a voice ID anyway (only 
when the repeater is idle, of course) and it gives you a place to put 
data without annoying kerchunks.
