Has anyone else noticed the addition of AIS (Automatic Identification System) data on aprs.fi? For those who don't know what AIS is, it's a 9600 baud tracking system for tracking commercial ships. The protocol is patented, but can be decoded using ShipPlotter (http://www.coaa.co.uk/shipplotter.htm) Looks like they aprs.fi is looking for more costal stations to feed the AIS data to the server. Pretty neat. Jason KE4NYV RPC Electronics www.rpc-electronics.com
