I think one of the problems (but also a good thing) there are a LOT of programmers out there who have little formal CS training.  Heck, most have probably never even heard of BNF.  One of the most useful things I had back in my early programming days was the exact BNF definition of some of the languages I was working in.  Made debugging obscure errors a lot easier.

Think we can get Microsoft to give us a BNF of the .NET runtime?
