The way I read the frequency specs, about half the 802.11 channels are
in the 2.4GHz ham band, and hams are primary users on that band.  If
we radiate the increased power only on the frequencies/channels we are
licensed for, why wouldn't it be legal?

I wasn't really thinking of kW outputs or anything; just going from
the typical 50 to 100mW up to, say, 5W would make a serious difference
in range.

Besides that, at 2.4GHz, there are serious safety concerns with high
power.  Don't want to microwave any body parts...
