Well the point being that these two projects are working closely 
together to provide a mobile GUI interface to a wide variety of 
applications.  They have a published API which apparently works with a 
number of different programming languages.  Folks who want to build 
Linux carputers are more and more turning to this as the de facto base 
configuration and building from there.

If you dig around in those two sites you'll find more about the API, 
their forum, wiki, tech docs, etc.

Adding an APRS applet to this, whether it is Xastir or something new, 
would be fantastic.
