[aprssig] Text Message Gateway

I just read an item in the Eclectic Technology column about a program
created by KB8WOW called Text Message Gateway.  It sends e-mail messages
when it receives a predetermined DTMF string.  I recalled what WB4APR said
about using a standard voice radio to send DTMF strings of programmed
information to the APRS system and all that was needed is someone to do the
programming.  Bob, is the Text Message Gateway program something like you
were talking about and I wonder if it could be adapted for APRS.
