[aprssig] APRS CQ

I recommend that the page on APRS-IS.net be improved to clear up some of this. When one understands, those words all make sense, but initially it's not really clear just how it works. Studying the messages on Findu from/to users and the server and on my radio got me there.

In one of you posts, turned up in a search, pointed out the two commands of the server, CQ and U. I like that.

That page also doesn't explain why/when the "# messages sent to nnnn" reply from the server occurs. Seems it should say "# users" (registered) or something like that.

NO. Those are direct station-to-station (via the net). They had nothing to do with Pete's server. They are just normal, every day, station-via-net-to-station APRS messages.

The intent of these words: " "...message of everyone that logs in...". IS Everyone already in the group only sees the new _log-in messages_. The server _does_ forward these, with the "CQ" command and group name snipped off.
