Many microcontrollers nowadays are capable of easily producing more complicated modulations than the traditional 300 bps AX.25. Maybe they aren't as good in receiving applications, but most 2-way applications on HF use PCs/soundcards anyway. I don't know much about these things, but I have a feeling there are a lot of decibels to be won by switching to a modulation better suited to HF conditions. Tapio
