I  havent't been paying attention, but I assume that some path other
than WIDE will be used?

Earl, the biggest difference is linear vs. radius squared.  10 hops
linear is 10 packets.  10 hops radially in all directions is
theoretically hundreds to thousands of packets (depends on digi
coverage).
