well, for straight-line tracks it shouldn't be too hard to generate NMEA data.

oops, if that's a Garmin-mode thing, it could be a little more difficult.

One of these days I'm gonna stick a datalogger on a GPS for an entire
balloon flight, so I can play back the data for testing.
