The Yaesu VX-8R HT manufacturer's _default_ path is already WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1
which is the best mobile or portable routine digi path.

 

That is, WIDE1-1 in "PASS  Number 1" and also WIDE2-1 in "PASS  Number 2".
Passes 3 thru 8 remain blank, unused.

 

(as per Page 86 of your VX-8R Operating Manual)

One remark: the VX-8 is only able to have a path of WIDE1 - 1 or WIDE2 -1.
There are 8 slots for a single path each. There is no possibility for a
choice of paths as in WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1 in a single slot.

1) Set the path of WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1 in your APRS HT and now it
will work via your Jeep or via any other digi that hears it, and
you don't have to remmember to switch paths in the HT depending
