  For anybody doing regular expressions, be it in Perl or any other 
language, I can recommend 'The Regex Coach', a tool that 'can be used to 
experiment with (Perl-compatible) regular expressions interactively'. 
It's now Windows only, but there are older versions for Linux, FreeBSD 
and Mac.
