What do you want to bet he was also chatting on the local 2m repeater while this setup wasn't working... So many new people have to be reminded that you can't run two high powered transmitters on top of a car without them interfering with each other because of the lack of separation. That said Bob, I think your response does a good job to point out the issues in many area's typical setups.
