"That" above refers to my point that one can't see the positions of
other stations relatively to each other on a no-display-GPS.

However, the original posting from Rich didn't say anything about the
need to mainly be tracked.

The subject is talking about "the best GPS Data RX on the market", so
opinions from other amateurs about that are relevant, even if the OP
had another thought in mind.

In my opinion, the use of a laptop will be a distraction for the
driver, but it will of course replace the need for a display-GPS.
I would think that people with a car navigation system would prefer to
use that even for APRS, as it has to contain a position calculator,
such as a GPS. The Garmin 276x (and other units with similar
properties) in my eyes is a good multi-purpose unit for APRS and
navigation.
