Yes - there are essentially two different networks. Those watching with pure RF applications would see a few more packets due to the extended path. Those watching on TCP - the path didn't matter. I would wager that by looking at the raw packet dump we would find the majority of the packets gated to the APRS-IS came directly to I-gates with no hops. It all boils down to what was the goal? Getting packets out via RF to live stations vs into the TCP system. Once the goal is defined, the appropriate path is fairly obvious... 73 Bill - WA7NWP
