The mailbox should work.

And i really dont think the buffer is a issue.

The winlink/paclink guys have made an upgrade to their software so that 
both TM-D700 and TM-D710 can be used out of the box without any other 
thing in between. (it's working on the alinco and the TS2000) so then i 
think the 7x0 also should work.

I really think the main issue is that people have been using a MAXFRAME 
value wrong and that people are not avare that the 700 and 710 have an 
issue that the TNC/control is turned off when it receives a command even 
if the radio are in KISS MODE. (this issue is easily fixed as long as 
you know that the radio behave like this)

Anyhow a nice radio that is easy to upgrade new firmware on.
