Does anyone know of an application or service that would allow me to send a
text message via regular cellphone and ask for basic status info on an APRS
station?

I imagine sending a message with AL7BX-8 as the subj to a
certain email address and getting a return message back with the text
of the first line from a regular Findu.com query as below.

Surely some has done this.
