Hams need to be more welcoming, attitudes like yours run the real risk  
of strangling amateur radio to death due to lack of new talent. I  
designed the APRS Internet System to reflect that philosophy. That is  
the way the APRS IS was designed, that is the way the APRS IS is  
implemented, and that is the way the APRS IS is used. Tthis system has  
been rather successful designed implemented, and used in just this  
way. Sorry if it inconveniences you!
