[aprssig] APRS Email -> Cell phone Text message problem

We were planning to meet up with our daughter yesterday afternoon, and got to the appointed place first. I wanted to give her a quick call, just to let her know, but there was no cell phone reception. I did, however, see a lot of APRS traffic on my Kenwood D7. HA! Send a text message to her cell phone!
First, I needed the email address. All the major providers have an email gateway to their text messaging service, but alas, I didn't have the foresight to look it up before our trip. She arrived shortly after I began to puzzle on this, and we proceeded on our way. Later that day I looked up the email address, and gave it a try. Good news and bad news...
The good news: Her phone buzzed happily moments after sending the message.
The bad news: The message text I sent was nowhere in the message. All she got was the header ("DO NOT REPLY"), and a bunch of links to the Internet for findu and other such services. I'm guessing that the message text itself was truncated off the bottom of the message (only the first 160 characters can be sent).
I used the email-2 gatway for this test. Is there another service that perhaps formats the message differently, so that the "important" part can show up before all the links and such? Or, is there a way for the gateway to know that it's sending to a limited size receiver, and adjust accordingly? The links aren't useful when viewed from a phone's text message window.
Hotmail® has a new way to see what's up with your friends.
