See if you have the problem sending messages via the APRS-Winlink Gateway. I
like the fact that you can assign an alias for a long email in APRSLink
which certainly shortens the keystrokes required from an APRS device to key
in....

  Well, you still see them over here.  I guess the Cell companies have
trained us to lower expectations.

  The first message I sent (via email-2) did display all the junk (no
message text), but then later ones from the same service did the reboot
thing.  That's why I'm thinking the bit bucket needs to be emptied, or
something similar.  I think I'll let her clear it all out and try the
original email service one last time, unless there's a 3rd service out there
to try, or some way to configure (format) what it delivers.

  But, yeah, even without the messages she occasionally complains of it
turning itself off every once in a while.  Voice quality is a challenge on
any mobile phone, another thing we've been "trained" on.

  Me, well, I don't have a cell phone...  If I'm in the office, leave a
message and I'll get back to you.  If I'm in the car, try the Auburn
repeater :-).
