Voice repeaters have the same challenge.   A well designed and
installed system should run for years and years..   Also an AltNet
channel isn't the sole APRS system in the region.  Its purpose is to
reduce the traffic while providing additional functionality with
respect to the core system.  So if it goes go down for a short
interval, it's no big problem.

I'm continuing to use a 1 hop path on an alt net and I'm getting
probably double the packets showing up at Findu then I would on
144.39.   The concept works!
