My understanding is that the NMEA 0183 port should allow you to use the GPS with a TM-D710A. The positions from stations heard by the D710 will be sent back up to the GPS unit, but since the Lowrance doesn't support the proprietary Kenwood sentences, you won't get the APRS icons on your GPS, you'll just get a generic waypoint icon.
