GPS is UTC Offset is used to display anything you want non UTC Need to understand what else it affects ----- Original Message ----- From: "Steve Noskowicz" <noskosteve at yahoo.com> To: "TAPR APRS Mailing List" <aprssig at tapr.org> Sent: Sunday, November 01, 2009 8:20 AM Subject: Re: [aprssig] Reminder for US members: Reset the time in your radios --- Randy Allen wrote: > "Using a GPS you can press POS and select "symbol of a > clock"SET" Mine's different. > Does that set the hours as well? AFAIK: Set the GPS time zone and set the D700 time and zone/offset independantly, I *thought*. BTW: I never did understand what the D700 time and offset were used for. Is it only the local display of time and time tag on packets?? Then why offset? Does some information come to the D700 over RF that must be corrected form UTC?? OR PERHAPS does the D700 send UTC in any packets?? I'm glat I included these time changes in my Excel sheets in the last rev. This is a pain in the Menu to do. Shoulda' been only one setting change either DST on/off ot offset change (time follows unless changed AFTERWORD. -- 73, Steve, K9DCI Too much to remember and or absorbe... _______________________________________________ aprssig mailing list aprssig at tapr.org https://www.tapr.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/aprssig -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- No virus found in this incoming message.
