[aprssig] UI question

I may have been premature on Cap's reference.  It doesn't appear to fully explain UIFLOOD (at one time I thought I understood this)  and There is an issue with the D700 that may or may not be repeated in teh 710  conserning UIFLOOD ID vs, NOID.
 
I just searched around the UIFLOOD and found lots of references dancing around, but not explaining it.

Can anyone direct me to a website or online document that explains what UI is as well as what UIDIGI, UICHECK, and UIFLOOD are? I seem to have fallen further behind that I thought then I ran into these while setting up a TM-D710 but I’m unclear on what they mean and as usual the radio’s manuals aren’t much help.
