[aprssig] decoding aprs packets

Greetings all:

I've looked around and haven't yet found a good "how to read an APRS 
packet" ..  Basically, I'd like to learn how the packets are formed from 
origin to destination.  I already understand much of the contents, but there 
are still things that stump me.

Also, where can I learn about the compressed "micE?" packets--this is what my 
little HT uses and I'd like to figure out how that works.
