[enclosed in exclamation points] Yes, that is the proposed format for the very reason you describe. That is to prevent false alarms when someone is talking about an emergency. The spec proposal for APRS1.2 is on this document: http://aprs.org/aprs12/EmergencyCode.txt If we can identify those clients, we need to get them fixed. Bob, Wb4APR
