You'd probably want a modified version that only did text & small
images; One of the big advantages of a HUD is being able to see
through it to the road and traffic beyond, so if it's a complete
computer screen you're projecting, you lose that.

And as someone whose had a HUD in his cars ever since the 90's, they
really are less distracting than the alternative  of glancing down at
instrument cluster, or in this case, to the side at a computer/radio
screen.
