I don't think our GS232 (not A) model does the speed control, but
since the motors are AC I suspect they're pulsing the TRIACs for speed
control, pretty much like PWM for a DC motor.

Not sure why the motors would be AC, unless it's to avoid line loss
getting all the way up the tower.
