Is there a need in general to be able to create private objects/items in a local APRS client? Yes. It's common to have a tactical display for public service events, RACES, ARES, or SAR. You don't necessarily need to be able to transmit those objects to others over RF or the internet. I often create private objects that show repeaters or places of interest even when not doing events. Being able to plot the positions of resources that don't have a tracker on them is a very useful feature of APRS clients. > 2. Are Aloha circles meaningful to Internet-only clients? No. Only meaningful if using RF. Xastir for instance doesn't display any Aloha circle if your only interface is on the internet. -- Curt, WE7U. http://www.eskimo.com/~archer APRS in Search and Rescue: http://wetnet.net/~we7u/search_and_rescue.html
