Yep, the 6 cell pack works great. Much better than the Kenwood 4 pack.

Get the Batteries America replacement battery pack that holds 6 standard
MNiH  
AA cells for $25 instead.   Works great, and you have the option to use 
standard non-rechargeable alkalines in the pack instead, in an emergency or
in 
the field with no recharge source handy.
