Absolutely agree with the right tool for the job! Used to "bodge" 1/4" spade connectors with a poor quality crimp tool + sometimes solder. Never really that good. Then bought a professional grade ratchet tool and the difference in connecting quality was staggering. Never soldered another because there was no need to, the crimp was perfect every time. I now have ratchet tools for all types of crimp! Bad idea, in my experience. Makes a brittle joint, subject to breaking. Do what the connector is designed for.
