Gamin had to go thru a lot problems to get the rules changed for the Rino. dale ----- Original Message ----- From: "Daron Wilson" <daron at wilson.org> To: "TAPR APRS Mailing List" <aprssig at tapr.org> Sent: Saturday, September 3, 2011 5:43:41 PM Subject: Re: [aprssig] OT: FRS & Type Acceptance WAS: Clubs, FRS ...teams > I believe the FCC would simply point to 95.194: "You may not attach any > ...other apparatus to an FRS unit.... There are no exceptions to this rule > ..." Why would you quote an edited portion of the rule? Actually, the rule says this: (c) You may not attach any antenna, power amplifier, or other apparatus to an FRS unit that has not been FCC certified as part of that FRS unit. There are no exceptions to this rule and attaching any such apparatus to a FRS unit cancels the FCC certification and voids everyone's authority to operate the unit in the FRS. Assuming that the headset is 'FCC certified as part of that FRS unit', there appears to be no violation. _______________________________________________ aprssig mailing list aprssig at tapr.org https://www.tapr.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/aprssig
