[aprssig] APRSdroid 1.1 with Messaging and Bluetooth-TNC released

Hi All,

After another long phase of intensive development, I have just released
APRSdroid 1.1 to the Android Market.

APRSdroid is an open-source APRS-IS application for Android devices.

The new version comes with several major improvements compared to the
last 1.0.3 release:

 * APRS Messaging (you can send and receive messages, there is
   automatic retry support for TX and Android notifications for RX;
   the tracking service has to be active all the time)

 * preliminary Bluetooth TNC support (I hope that one or the other TNC
   manufacturer will provide ready-made solutions soon, so the code can
   be tested in depth. Right now I consider it beta quality)

 * New option to "Keep screen awake"

 * Improved performance: the Hub and Map should perform much better now,
   even with very many stored stations.

You can support APRSdroid development by getting the Market version from
https://market.android.com/details?id=org.aprsdroid.app

You can also just download the binary from http://aprsdroid.org/download/

P.S: It seems, the U2APRS home page is down. Anyone knows what happened
to the project?

P.P.S: With VUF-TRACKER <http://1011.se/aprs/> there is a new
alternative to APRSdroid out there, with an interesting UI approach and
direct aprs.fi integration.
