The author of this iPhone app is AB3Y, David Ponevac.  

Some iGate folks aren't very happy to see these iPhone apps, so I set my beacon rate at 30 minutes, but even at that the GPS pulls the battery down in an hour.  So, when I feel the need of it I turn it on and let it update every half-hour.
