Significant work has been done here getting the word out and there are around 10 UK amateurs who plan to monitor at the very least. The UK Balloon groups know about it. And word has been past into other European countries although no feedback yet. Reasonably confident that if it makes it tracking will happen. We were successful last year in tracking into Europe and catching the splash down in the Med The UK is part of Europe be the way Steve Daniels Amateur Radio Callsign G6UIM Torbay Freecycle Owner http://http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/torbay_freecycle <http://http:/uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/torbay_freecycle> APRSISCE/32 Beta tester and WIKI editor http://aprsisce.wikidot.com _____ From: aprssig-bounces at tapr.org [mailto:aprssig-bounces at tapr.org] On Behalf Of Stephen H. The K6RPT-12 long-duration high-altitude balloon left the North American mainland, after crossing directly over Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada at approximately 17:35 US EDT (2230 UTC 2 December). It's heading out almost straight east across the Atlantic ocean at about 210 MPH (340 KM/h) at aproximately 110,000 feet (33,500 meters). At it's present rate of travel, we will have about another 90 minutes to two hours before it goes out of range of igates in North America. Tune your igate receivers to the North American APRS channel of 144.39 MHz by around 0200-0300 UTC 3 December to try to igate it. The flight is having problems with the GPS receiver constantly unlocking and relocking, yielding a rather odd saw-tooth-like track. The true track is easily discernible, if you ignore or filter out the beacons with an elevation near sea level. <http://www.californianearspaceproject.com/> <http://www.californianearspaceproject.com/> <http://wa8lmf.net/livetrack> <http://wa8lmf.net/livetrack> _____ -- Stephen H.
