This would be a great way for hams to be able to quickly communicate their status to non-hams by being able to send a message to their Facebook and twitter accounts. Some day I might join the social revolution. If I do I think it would be with 73s.com a Ham only social site. Bob you are going to love this. There is a web site out out there that uses APRS messaging to post Twitter Tweets. The Twitter Tweets part you can turn on or off. It is off by default. If the Tweets are turned off then your APRS messages only shows up on the Web Site. Here is the full story. The web site is developed and run by Christopher Matthieu N7ICE What Chris has done is make a "Facebook" for Hams. Once you have registered with the site you can post 140 length character messages. You can follow other Hams. You can send an APRS message via RF to the web site. All you need to do is send an APRS message to 73S. If you have set up your 73s account to forward your posts from the 73s web site to Twitter and or Facebook your APRS message will show up on Twitter and or Facebook. Facebook and Twitter is an opt in. Your call sign is your screen name. There are many other features to the 73s Web Site. My little message here does not do it justice. If you would like to learn more then please go to the following Web Site. http://73s.com/ One last thing. If you are upset by the name (73s) Chris knows that the use of the plural 73 (73s) is frowned on in Ham radio. But all the domain names of 73 were taken. Let us hope we never witness the "Silence Of The Hams" 73 DE John KB2SCS Packet: KB2SCS at WA2PNU,#NLI.NY.USA.NOAM E-Mail: kb2scs at arrl.net Web Page: http://www.qsl.net/kb2scs _______________________________________________ aprssig mailing list aprssig at tapr.org https://www.tapr.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/aprssig
