[aprssig] RK3KKPK? (CONNECTED Igates?)

Until about 18 months ago I ran a BBS (for 13 years) that included a
node facility that handles ax25, Netrom and fpac* (Rose under Linux). In
addition to 6 radio ports I had axudp links to specified stations in
Australia, the UK, France and the USA that provided inter-node links.

In my experience, a Netrom (or Rose) nodes list may look impressive but
in practice, many of the stations listed are simply not reachable. Fpac
is, arguably, less susceptible than Netrom in this regard but "ghost"
stations still existed.

About 15 years ago I also tried Flexnet but, being the only station
within cooee running Flexnet made it difficult to confirm its routing
capabilities;-( I was very impressed by Flexnet's dynamic channel access
parameters FRACK, MAXFRAME, etc. This worked extremely well.

* fpac was a compatible version of the Rose protocol, with extra routing
capability. It originated with F6FBB (BBS software) and has been
maintained by F6BVP. It is Linux specific. I believe it is better than
Netrom but it is not as universal and must lose some Brownie points on
this point alone.
