Yeah, at lower data rates I've seen ranges of at least 100 miles at 1/2 watt on 2 meters. The test units are currently running at 4800 baud, which will sacrifice some margin, but they've also got some error correction capability which ought to help make up for it. I was going to get an Az/El rotor system, but it turns out to be cheaper to make my assistant stand on the roof and hold the antenna. =] Scott N1VG
