I beg your pardon in advance for this intrusion into the APRS world. I have an old laptop, running a light weight flavor of Debian Linux. I am running soundmodem and successfully seeing a bit of APRS traffic. I am looking for some non-graphical tools which will show me direction and distance for directly-heard APRS stations. I'd like the additional feature of being able to set up alerts (email, text messages, ?) for arrival of DX packets. I am somewhat competent programming in perl and less so in C and Java. So libraries or general tips are also appreciated. Chris Howard w0ep EM53
