Especially when there are digipeaters out there that don't insert their 
callsigns, either by design or by mis-configuration.

Have you checked out APRSISCE/32's Paths display.  It may already show 
you graphically what you're attempting to do with your own code.  
Especially with the RF Only check in the Screen / Paths / Appearance 
dialog and View / RF / All checked.
