get with me off list, I have done some perl ax25 stuff using the aprs.fi 
library. works great I still have to get around to finishing the object 
server, but with so many projects and so little time, and work taking up 
most of it it's been kinda rough to get time to sit in front of the keyboard 
to do anything

but the object server I have made can do that sort of thing as long as it's 
"heard" both stations.
