That's correct - the user downloads the OSM bzipped files from sources such as Cloudemade, and YAAC imports them and lays them out as tiles in a specified directory on the hard drive. I've also found that pre-fetching OSM online tiles for offline use works very well in APRSIS32. Pre-fetched OSM tiles ended up being my favorite free offline map solution on a recent Virginia to Wisconsin road trip using a netbook with an openTracker USB. Regarding the original question, however, UIView and Xastir can currently handle a JPG file & based on Andrew's response it sounds like YAAC doesn't do that natively yet. I honestly can't remember if APRSIS32 can use a JPG or not, but I'm sure Mr. Lynn has the answer. Lee - K5DAT Regards, Lee - K5DAT
