If anyone shows up to my field day operations and starts trying to run
300VDC across the parking lot using indoor lamp cord, they are immediately
getting sent home.

Field Day does not include a provision for an acceptable mortality rate.
300VDC on a breadboard is very different than 300VDC snaking around a
campground.
