How far do you need to go? Does it really need to be on VHF/UHF channels?
I'm wondering if 2.4ghz Wi-Fi could be used instead? Something like
http://www.broadband-hamnet.org/ perhaps, or just set up some gain
antennas for a back-haul point to point connection.
