<snip> "One area of concern is that AX.25, or any other implementation, will make the layer 1-2 and layer 2-3 boundaries less than distinct. Do we draw a clear line in the sand and take great pain to not step over or do we do what seems right and deliberately allow these boundaries to remain fuzzy? 'Nuff babble for now. 73 de Glenn WB6W" I am with Glenn on establishing a 'clear line' where we can and put our efforts. 'Gray' areas toward Livel 1 and 3 could be set and in these areas discussion would be 'almost off topic'. There should be clear limits set for topics totally in Level 1 & 3. (1) I would like to see a two column list of what X.25 and AX.25 have in common and what is different. (2) Are IP addresses Level 3? I thought Level 2 was MAC addressing and no routing information. Is digipeating 'routing information' and does it belong in level 3? (3) Where can I(we) find the X.25 and the AX.25 RFCs or official definitions? Regards, Chuck
