I keep reading the assertion that packet (and, specifically, ax.25 and APRS) is a failure. Quite frankly, I don't see that. We have networks that move traffic, that respond in emergency situations, that let me QSO with someone, via RF and Net/Rom nodes, a half-state away. It works. That is no failure. My APRS packets get where they need to go; what more is needed? Sure, there are not as many users out there. It has little to do with ax.25, IMHO. Sure, there are not as many nodes out there, but that has little to do with use (inappropriate or not) of ax.25. Sure, there are lots of APRS machines and users out there, but that has little to do with ax.25. What is broken? There is lots of room for improvement, but I do not see the failures that several keep bringing up. What are they? Jim, KA7EHK __________________________________ Yahoo!
