Maybe a better question is do you trust whoever you are getting your connection with? Many ISPs don't seem to support encrypted authentication. It would seem to leave your password open to packet sniffing. -----Original Message----- From: ham-80211-bounces+russellhltn=compuserve.com at lists.tapr.org [mailto:ham-80211-bounces+russellhltn=compuserve.com at lists.tapr.org] On Behalf Of larry Sent: Tuesday, August 31, 2004 12:40 PM To: TAPR Mailing List for Ham Radio Use of 802.11 Subject: [Ham-80211] hot spots?? is there a site to locate legal hot spots?? also, is it legal to connect to the inter net, with out knowing thorough who you are connecting, such as if I turn on my lap top while in my car, and i see i have a connection to the inter net. no playing with WEP or such.
