I am facing an irresistible urge to deploy a couple of DLM118 - http://doodlelabs.com/products-and-services/ofdm-radio-modules/380-520-mhz-band-dlm118.htmlin a home to office link. Money is an object. Failure is not an option. THe Ubiquiti RouterStation looks like an appropriate cost-effective host. I have a fair amount of experience with their stuff. You can buy them in an enclosure from http://www.balticnetworks.com/ubiquiti-routerstation-outdoor-ap-custom-kit-or-assembled-to-order.html. At least initially, the pre-installed OpenWRT looks suitable I am going to be fishing for a feasible route so a base station antenna like the UVS200 looks promising. All of the verticals in this class seem to have SO239 connectors. The DLM118 has MMCX connectors. PL259 to MMCX pigtails seem rare. Probably easier to install a PL258 to N adapter on the antenna. Add a Ubiquiti POE-24 and a hunk of Cat5 and hopefully I am in business. Budget for a pair is a little under $1000. So there are lots of questions. Is this feasible? Anybody do something similar? How far will it reach? Will it attract attention? Is there a database of violations from which to gain wisdom? Jim, KE4RUM -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
